Ironworkers
Ironworkers Local 751 runs a four-year, 6,000-hour apprenticeship with 634 hours of related classroom instruction, training ironworkers in structural steel erection, rigging, and reinforcing work for commercial and industrial construction across Alaska. Through ARCTIC, students participate in two intensive weeks of training under a two-year training agreement, with the Ironworkers assisting with student funding to support participation.

AJEATT is a statewide program offering classroom instruction and 8,000 hours of on-the-job training across the Inside Wireman, Outside Lineman, Telecommunications, and Tree Trimmer / Line Clearance classifications — one of Alaska's most established earn-while-you-learn electrical pathways. Through ARCTIC, IBEW Local 1547 offers a yearlong Interim Credential program featuring Intensive Week One: Beginning Electrical (taught in-region), covering electrical theory, panels, plugs, switches, and lights, plus two 40-hour classes in Telecommunications and Wireman, with the possibility of a third 40-hour Power Line intensive. IBEW does not charge facility fees when training occurs at one of their centers, which significantly supports our funding.

UA Local 375's Fairbanks Plumbers & Pipefitters Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee provides classroom and on-the-job training for journeymen and apprentices in plumbing, pipefitting, steamfitting, and HVAC service across Interior Alaska. Through ARCTIC, students complete two 40-hour intensives — one in CRSD and one in Anchorage — with the union currently working to count these hours as direct entry and toward apprenticeship requirements.

AMMA is a union apprenticeship connected to Sheet Metal Workers Local 23 that lets apprentices earn while they learn — starting around $26/hour and doubling in four years — with classroom instruction at no cost and the opportunity to earn up to 20 nationally recognized certifications. Through ARCTIC, students complete two 40-hour intensive weeks of training, with ongoing discussions about counting these hours as direct entry and toward apprenticeship hours.

The Fairbanks Pipeline Training Center partners with industry organizations to deliver registered apprenticeship programs for Alaskans pursuing careers in oil and gas pipeline construction, maintenance, and process technology. Following the construction pathways meeting with DEED, ARCTIC is meeting with leadership in Fairbanks to build training and job opportunities for ARCTIC students in pipeline and energy trades.

Alaska AHEC strengthens the state's health workforce through education, hands-on training, and career development — engaging students in health career exploration and building pathways into clinical and community health roles across Alaska. ARCTIC is working with AHEC to establish an emergency medical program where students can earn Medical Terminology, CNA, ETT, and EMT Basic credentials — building a direct pathway into Alaska's healthcare and emergency response workforce.

UAF Community & Technical College (CTC) is part of the University of Alaska Fairbanks and offers more than 50 one-year certificate programs, two-year associate degree programs, and occupational endorsements in high-demand career fields. Its purpose is preparing workforce-ready graduates and providing community-driven education. With the merger of the Interior Alaska Campus into CTC, its reach extends to 52 communities and villages across the Doyon and Tanana Chiefs regions — an area roughly the size of France — offering flexible course options including online, audio conference, on-site instruction, and intensive sessions in Fairbanks and Anchorage. The Tok Center serves ARCTIC's eastern Interior communities, providing advising, admissions, registration, placement exams, and a computer lab to support students pursuing certificates and degrees while living in their home communities.
