About ARCTIC
ARCTIC stands for the Alaska Regional Career & Technical Interior Consortium — a partnership among three Interior Alaska school districts dedicated to providing students with hands-on career and technical education that leads to industry-recognized credentials, apprenticeships, and meaningful employment.

ARCTIC helps students access regional career and technical education programs, industry-recognized credentials, and career pathways that may lead to apprenticeships, employment, or additional training after high school.
Through partnerships with industry, labor organizations, and postsecondary institutions, students gain real-world experience that connects classroom learning to career success. Programs span construction trades, energy, healthcare, aviation, culinary arts, and emerging fields like biomass and alternative energy.
Students earn high school credit while participating in ARCTIC programs, turning hands-on career experience into academic progress toward graduation. Students do the work to learn whether they love the work.

ARCTIC is dedicated to training Interior Alaska's youth for high-demand careers right here at home. By equipping local students with industry-recognized credentials, we ensure our regional workforce is built from within our communities rather than relying on an itinerant workforce.
Accessible & Equitable
All programs are tuition-free for ARCTIC students, and the consortium works to remove barriers so that ARCTIC students can participate. Location in remote villages is not a barrier.
Our School Districts
Alaska Gateway School District
AGSD serves approximately 415 K-12 students across seven remote communities in a 28,000-square-mile region of Alaska's eastern interior, navigating extreme weather and significant distances to deliver education via both village schools and the district-wide REACH Academy.
